1800s Peter Schuttler Wagon
Most of the wagons on site are reproductions. This wagon is an original Peter Schuttler estimated to have been built mid to late 1800s. You’ll notice that this wagon has spooned wheels instead of straight; this was for utility purposes, as the dynamics of the wheels allowed for heavier cargo, reduced wear, and improved turning ability. You’ll also see the original paint still shows “Peter Schuttler” written on the side.
Fun Historical Fact
Peter Schuttler II, son of Peter Schuttler and successor to the family wagon business, married Wilhelmina Anheuser. Her sister, Lilly, married Adolphus Busch, who partnered with their father to establish the Anheuser-Busch brewing empire.
